About Karan
At the age of 7, Karan started learning Martial Arts and has been following his passion since then. He has received recognition and been merited for his art at various Nationals while representing his state, West Bengal. While Taekwondo has been his forte, he has also explored gymnastics and other Martial Art forms like Kickboxing and Muay Thai.
He was appointed the nation’s youngest international instructor and national umpire in Taekwondo and promoted to 4th Dan black belt at the tender age of 19. He also delved into movement and flexibility which lead him to Animal Flow in which he completed Level 2. After more than 16 years of perfecting Taekwondo, he went back to being a student at The Shaolin Temple, China where he mastered Kungfu, weaponry, meditation, and other disciplines. He represented his nation while in China and competed in the first International Shaolin Wushu Federation Competition at the Shaolin Temple, where he won the Dragon award for his drunken fist form display and the Golden Gloves trophy for Sanda, or Chinese boxing.
He also trained at the Shaolin Temple in Switzerland for a few weeks, learning and concentrating primarily on Bo-staff training (stick) and wushu.
The idea of not confining himself to one art and intertwining different disciplines appeals to him so much so that he opened a dynamic workout center called ‘The Kaizen Studio’ in his hometown, Kolkata, which focuses on movement and Martial Arts. He is currently residing in Mumbai, India and assisting those working in the Indian film industry.
